Born in 1982, NamNguyen is a Vietnamese-Canadian artistbased in Berlin. Working in the medium of oil painting, he exploresabstraction as a vehicle for perceptual investigation. In his currentwork he explores how ongoing explorations of craft can unlock newpossibilities in color intensity and complexity that create a spaceof altered chromatic experience. In the tradition ofphenomenological thought, through his material and compositional experiments, he aims to shift theexperience of viewer beyond one of cognitive understanding towardsthat of embodied affect of light and space.
